Make your own version of the ever popular Wingstop side with my delicious Air Fryer Cajun Corn. The perfect combination of punchy flavour from the homemade Cajun seasoning and delicious char from the air fryer.
Why use an air fryer to cook corn on the cob?
The most common way to cook corn on the cob is boiling it. Although this is straightforward, I also like to char it slightly in a pan afterwards to get even more delicious flavour.
By using an air fryer, you are able to achieve that all in one step. You don’t have to wait for your water to boil or use multiple pans.
And with this Cajun corn you can add the seasoning at the start and leave the air fryer to do all of the work for you in one easy step. Perfect!
what is cajun seasoning?
Cajun seasoning, also sometimes referred to as Cajun spice, is a blend of herbs and spices originating from Louisiana in America where Cajun cuisine was born. The seasoning uses a blend of herbs and spices typically found in Cajun cooking.
As with most seasoning blends, the ingredients can vary slightly. However you will find cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic, black pepper and oregano in the majority of Cajun seasoning blends.
This seasoning is the perfect combination of bold, punchy flavour from the cayenne pepper and paprika which pairs wonderfully with the herbs.
It is the perfect seasoning to add instant flavour to corn on the cob as well as fries and wings.
which cajun seasoning to use
Obviously I would recommend that you use my homemade Cajun seasoning because I think it is delicious.
You can buy Cajun seasoning a lot more readily here in the UK than you used to be able to. If you did want to buy it instead of making your own you should be able to in larger supermarkets.
However I definitely would recommend making your own. It is very easy to do, delicious and you probably have the ingredients in your cupboard already.
which corn is best to use?
It is completely up to you whether you decide to buy cobs that are already prepared so that their husks have been removed or you do this yourself.
If you buy corn with the husks intact, you just need to remove these before adding to your air fryer. It is a simple job, but I tend to buy the cobs with the husks already removed.
You can then buy whole cobs or cobettes which are the cobs that have already been cut in half. For this Cajun corn I like to cut the cobs into four smaller pieces as this is how Wingstop serves their Cajun corn.
It is not compulsory to do this, but if you choose to cut your cobs please be careful. The cobs are quite hard to cut through so make sure you use a sharp knife and keep your fingers out of the way.
Can you air fry frozen corn on the cob?
Frozen corn on the cob cooks really well in the air fryer. Frozen corn is usually more cost effective than the fresh version so it is a great option.
It is also usually sold in cobettes but please do not try cutting these into smaller sections before cooking it. It will be way too hard and you will probably injure yourself trying.
Cooking the corn from frozen only takes a couple more minutes in the air fryer so really is a great and convenient option. Spray frozen corn with oil and sprinkle over the seasoning the same as you would if you were using fresh corn.
can you use an air fryer liner?
Air fryer liners are a great time saving addition because they are usually easier to wash than the basket of your air fryer.
Most reusable air fryer liners are silicone and although they are handy to have, I wouldn’t recommend using them for all recipes.
I really wouldn’t bother using an air fryer liner for corn on the cob because it makes such little mess a liner would probably be more of a hinderance than a help.
I’ve written a whole post on whether you should use an air fryer liner, check it out for more information.
how to serve air fryer cajun corn
I am a Cajun seasoning fiend and love to serve Cajun corn with Cajun fries and Cajun wings. Go big or go home! Although the seasoning is used on all elements of the meal it isn’t overpowering and is perfect served with my homemade ranch dip.
If you don’t want to go all out with the Cajun seasoning, you can serve the corn with plain wings. You can also serve them with any meat and fish you think the Cajun seasoning would work well with.
I also think these Cajun corn would make a great addition to any buffet or spread. To be honest with you I’d eat them as a snack at any time of day!

We all love corn in our house and the addition of Cajun spice just added an extra layer of flavour. So easy to cook in the air fryer too.
Sophie says
I always cook my corn in the air fryer but it was so much more delicious with the cajun seasoning. No wingstop in my area so it’s great to be able to recreate the recipes at home.

Oh yeh these were great, I liked the smaller pieces of corn too, they were much easier to eat than my usual cobbets.
