These Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Fries are decadent and delicious. Perfectly crisp fries tossed in the most amazing garlic, parmesan flavoured butter. These Wingstop inspired fries are a real tasty treat!

WHY USE AN AIR FRYER AND NOT AN OVEN?
Air fryers cook food quicker than a standard convection oven which is great for saving energy and pennies but also for busy families that want to be able to cook food quickly.
Another advantage is that air fryers are smaller than ovens and grills so you’re not heating up a full-sized oven and instead a smaller air fryer. This means you’re using less energy because you’re heating up a smaller appliance as well as cooking the food faster.
Chips are the main reason I bought my first air fryer years ago. I think homemade chips cook much more evenly and more quickly in an air fryer compared to a standard oven.

which fries make the best garlic parmesan fries?
I like to use my air fryer chips recipe when making these garlic parmesan fries. This makes them really similar to Wingstop fries. My air fryer chip recipe has more detailed information about which potatoes to use and other helpful chip making advice.
But you can use the Cajun seasoning on any of my air fryer potato recipes and they will be delicious. They don’t have to be in the typical chip shape – new potatoes and smashed potatoes will be very tasty tossed in garlic and parmesan too!
You can also use frozen chips if want quicker garlic parm fries. I just like to make sure they’re nice and crisp before you coat them in the butter.

Garlic Parmesan Fries ingredients
You can’t really go wrong wrong when making these fries. There are a few different options you can use, with some being better than others but they will all work.
Garlic
I absolutely hate peeling garlic so jars of minced or diced garlic really are my best friend. They have a milder taste than fresh cloves of garlic so if bear that in mind when you are deciding which type of garlic to use.
You could use garlic granules if that is all you have, but you might want to add a little more as they are milder in flavour.
Parmesan
I always buy fresh blocks of parmesan and grate it myself. Ready grated parmesan you can buy in the shops has preservatives added to it which I would just prefer to avoid. I think it also has a better flavour.
But use whichever parmesan you like – and use as much as you like!

Butter
I use salted butter for these wings, but the amount of salt in butter can vary as does people’s preferences. You may want to use less or more sea salt than I have stated in the recipe below.
If you use unsalted butter you will need to add more salt. No one wants an under salted chip!
PARSLEY
Although I am typically not a fan of parsley, I think it is essential in garlic butter. It really elevates garlic bread, especially when you use fresh parsley.
I use flat leaf parsley personally, but you can just as easily use curly leaf parsley.
If all you have is dried parsley that will work absolutely fine, the flavour just might not be quite as vibrant.

How crisp do you like your fries?
I often see people online ordering their fries from Wingstop extra crispy. This just means they have had extra time in the frier to get super crisp.
Usually I am not too bothered about how crisp my fries are, but for these garlic parm fries I do think it is worth getting them that little bit crispier.
This is because the butter mixture is likely to make them a bit softer. So if you start with a crispier fry, they are likely to retain some of that crunch.
But as with most recipes, it is all down to personal preference so you cook them how you like.

do you need to preheat an air fryer?
That depends on your air fryer, some require preheating whilst others don’t. I have a Ninja Foodi 7-in-1 multicooker and a Ninja Foodi Flexdrawer and I have never preheated either.
If your air fryer does require preheating, check the fries a few minutes sooner than the recipe states. If your air fryer is warm, food is likely to cook a few minutes faster.

can you use an air fryer liner?
Air fryer liners are a great time saving addition because they are usually easier to wash than the basket of your air fryer.
Most reusable air fryer liners are silicone and although they are handy to have, I wouldn’t recommend using them for all recipes.
Fries take longer to crisp up if you use a liner but you could use one if you really wanted.
I’ve written a whole post on whether you should use an air fryer liner, check it out for more information.

How to serve Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Fries
I recommend serving these fries immediately! They really are at their best when served hot and fresh. As they fries cool, so does the butter and although it is still delicious, melted better works better for these fries.
My go-to way of serving these air fryer garlic parmesan fries has been to go all in and serve them with garlic parmesan wings. I also like to serve Cajun corn with them too. And of course that calls for a generous helping of homemade ranch or honey mustard mayo.
It feels like I am creating my very own Wingstop at home, especially if you add Cajun and lemon pepper wings too!
If wings aren’t your thing (crazy I know), you could serve these fries with my air fryer chicken nuggets or bacon cheese burgers. There are so many different options.

what to do with leftover garlic parm fries
As I mentioned, these fries really are best eaten when they are fresh and hot. So like the garlic parmesan chicken wings, I recommend only tossing the amount you think you are likely to eat in the garlic butter.
It is much easier to reheat plain fries and then add them to melted butter, than try and reheat fries already coated in the toppings.
